Overland, MO – Two boys who were rescued from an icy lake in suburban Overland Tuesday night are expected to make a full recovery.
Officials say the boys were retrieving a basketball on a frozen lake in Wild Acres Park when the ice gave way about 50 feet from shore.
It took rescuers an hour to reach the boys, after a third boy called for help. That third boy had also wandered onto the ice, but not as far.
The boys, both about 15 years old, were taken to a hospital with hypothermia.
Overland Police Chief Jim Herron says a detective at the hospital reports the boys were conscious and alert.
