St. Louis, MO – There were reports Sunday night from dozens of people in Missouri and Illinois of flaming objects falling from the sky.
The Highway Patrol says sightings were reported in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau and Alton and Bunker Hill, Ill. Several objects were seen exploding when they hit the ground.
Major April Cunningham with the North American Aerospace Defense Command -- or NORAD -- says a preliminary report indicates the objects came from a meteor. Cunningham says a pilot reported seeing a meteor, but she could not give any more details.
Most reports described the objects as bright lights or something burning with a flaming tail behind some of them.
