St. Louis, MO – Governor Matt Blunt has appointed a well-known restaurateur to the St. Louis Police Board.
Vince Bommarito replaces Michael Quinn, whose term has expired. It marks the first time a majority of the police board will be made of members appointed by Blunt. The other two are developer Chris Goodson and former TV newsman Julius Hunter. Jo Ann Freeman, an appointee of Gov. Bob Holden, is serving a term that ends in 2008. Mayor Francis Slay also sits on the board.
Bommarito, 75, runs Tony's Restaurant downtown and is a partner at America's Center Catering. He also sits on a number of boards, including those that act as boosters for downtown St. Louis.
The city police department is actually overseen and run by the state. The appointment still needs state Senate confirmation.
