Jefferson City, Mo. – The University of Missouri officially
has two new curators.
The Senate today confirmed the appointments of Judith Haggard of
Kennett, and Buford Fraser of Columbia. But it was not without some controversy.
Governor Blunt appointed Haggard to a Democratic slot on the board and Fraser to a Republican position. But some Democrats
questioned whether Haggard was really one of them -- noting her husband's active involvement in Republican politics.
No one questioned whether Haggard was qualified for the job. Rather, Democrats complained that the governor should be picking people who better fit their party labels.
