St. Louis – Matt Blunt is downplaying speculation that he does not plan to seek a second term as Missouri's governor.

On Sunday, syndicated columnist Robert Novak wrote on the website of the conservative magazine Human Events that Blunt's prospective re-election campaign was "...not on the agenda of a recent meeting between him and his political team."

The governor said Monday that he has more immediate concerns, but he gave no indication whether or not he plans to run.

"We'll make an announcement [on] that," Blunt said. "I'm obviously focused now on the coming legislative session. And I don't know that people want two-year campaigns. I wouldn't believe everything you read."

Also Monday, the governor proposed adding 100 new technology-focused classrooms in 100 schools ahead of his State of the State address Wednesday.

He wants lawmakers to set aside $2.9 million for the program.
