Jefferson City, Mo. – Anyone convicted of methamphetamine offenses in Missouri may find themselves on a new offenders list.
Republican State Representative David Sater of Cassville is sponsoring a bill that would create a statewide database of people convicted of crimes involving the sale or manufacture of methamphetamine.
He said local law enforcement officials approached him with the idea.
"They were aware of other registries in other states," Sater said "And this has proven to be helpful in their fight toward keeping the methamphetamine problem under control."
Sater said if passed, the database would be maintained by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which would receive names and birthdates of offenders from county clerks across the state.
