St. Louis, MO – The superintendent of the Hillsboro, Mo.R-3 School District has been named the new head of the St. Charles City School District.

Randal Charles will start his new job July 1, after gaining a unanimous vote from the St. Charles Board of Education.

Charles will replace Interim Superintendent Kim Harding, who stepped into the job when James Cale died last August. The Missouri School Board Association helped the St. Charles district conduct a national search after Cale's death.

Charles has spent 27 years in education, starting as a math teacher. He took over at Hillsboro schools in July, 2005.

The St. Charles R-6 School District serves about 6,200 students and serves mostly St. Charles City, but also a part of St. Peters and some unincorporated areas of St. Charles County.
