St. Louis, MO. – State and federal environmental regulators are continuing to access the damage caused by last month's ice and snow storm on marinas and boats at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Two inches of freezing rain and sleet, followed by 12 to 15 inches of snow, caused marina dock roofs to collapse on top of boats and yachts, sinking many of them.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Missouri Water Patrol, the Environmental Protection Agency and Ameren, which owns the lake, met last week.
"At this point we're still working on a database to collect all the information on dock permit numbers, how many boats potentially could be submerged and what that outcome might entail," Kring said.
The EPA and the DNR have contacted the lake's marinas to determine how many boats are still submerged.
