St. Louis – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt praised Ameren's response to last week's snow and ice storm. But he said it may be time for state regulators to take a closer look at the way the company maintains its infrastructure.
The Public Service Commission investigated Ameren following a major blackout in July. Last month it recommended the company beef up its tree trimming program.
But Governor Blunt said Monday the state should look at other maintenance issues besides trees.
"Obviously, the St. Louis region, when it's hit by storms, [suffers] a pretty severe impact," Blunt said. "And we need to determine if there's something the utility can do to prevent that."
Blunt said he is not yet calling for a full investigation.
