St. Louis, MO. – Ameren officials say Wednesday is likely the day when most people will get their power back on.
About 100,000 customers in St. Louis city and county and another 45,000 in the Metro East are still off-line tonight.
Ameren spokesman Tim Fox says for the hardest hit areas it could be Thursday or even Friday.
Fox says the wintry conditions are making it more difficult for the 7-thousand line-man they've got on the job.
"We've got employees in multiple layers of clothing, heavy gloves, which makes it more difficult," Fox said. "We've got the mixture of ice and snow on the ground which can conceal hidden dangers; wires that may still be around and that sort of thing."
Ameren has brought in line workers from 14 states since the storm hit.
