Kansas City, MO – The founder and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, Lamar Hunt, was hospitalized Thursday after having a bad reaction to cancer medication.
A Chiefs spokesman said Hunt's situation is not life-threatening and that he did not enter the hospital under emergency circumstances.
Hunt, 74, has battled health problems for several years and been hospitalized several times.
The sudden hospitalization caused him to miss seeing the Thanksgiving night game between the Chiefs and the Denver Broncos in person. Hunt had lobbied the NFL for decades to allow teams other than Dallas and Detroit to host Thanksgiving Day games.
The Chiefs-Broncos game marked the first time a third game was played on the holiday; it was also the debut of a game being broadcast live on the cable channel NFL Network
