St. Louis, MO – A six year old boy shot in the head when his father's gun went off is out of the hospital. Shawn Rulo left Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis today, saying he's eager for turkey and apple pie. Hospital officials say his progress is remarkable.
The child's 29 year old father, Ricky Lee Rulo Junior, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possessing a firearm while intoxicated. Prosecutors say the shooting in October in Washington County was an accident, but that the father handled a loaded firearm after using marijuana.
The father is being held without bond on a charge that he violated his probation by having firearms at his home. Prosecutors say Rulo had a previous drug possession conviction.
