MO-DOT Commissioners to pick contractor today for I-64/40 rebuild

By KWMU

st. louis, mo – Missouri transportation commissioners will vote today (Friday) on which group of contractors wins the right to re-build 12 miles of I-64/Highway 40 through St. Louis City and County

A number of news reports have suggested a team called Gateway Constructors will get the nod; local firms including Fred Weber are part of that group. The other group in the running is called Fam64.

The winning firm will announce more details today at the meeting of the transportation commission. Questions that remain include when, and how many, lanes will close, and what plans will address the traffic nightmares that are being anticipated.

The bids required the winning contractor to keep the project within a $535 million budget and to start work next spring.
