St. Louis, MO. – Missouri's attorney general is pushing to expand the state's No Call list to include automated campaign messages.
Jay Nixon says his office received more than 600 calls this election year complaining about robo calls.
The Democrat says many of the automated calls in this election were made the night before the election so that opponents had no time to respond.
"I just think it's an insidious tactic, maybe effective in some situations but very annoying as well as insidious, and I'd like to believe that in its own little way this could help raise the level of political discourse in Missouri," Nixon said.
Nixon says he's never used automated calls in his campaign and will not in the future.
Several Democratic state legislators support the proposal and stood behind Nixon during a press conference
This proposal is part of a larger bill that would extend the No Call list to faxes and cell phones.
