St. Louis, MO – A judge ruled Wednesday that a lawsuit over Valley Park's new immigration ordinance has to stay in state court, and not go to federal court.
Leaders in the St. Louis suburb tried to move the case after a state judge temporarily blocked the city from enforcing its new last.
The ordinance tries to make it a crime to rent to illegal immigrants or to employ them.
A newer ordinance with different wording also was blocked, and Wednesday's ruling will allow a hearing on the injunction to be scheduled.
