Poplar Bluff, MO – The Humane Society of Missouri Tuesday morning seized more than 50 dogs from a property near Poplar Bluff in southeast Missouri.
Officials say the Butler County Sheriff's Department obtained a warrant. The dogs are believed to be of several breeds, allegedly living in caged, overcrowded and dirty conditions.
The animals later were taken to the Humane Society facility in St. Louis for care and will stay in Humane Society custody until a court hearing is held.
Two years ago, the Humane Society rescued nearly 60 dogs and cats from the same property. Officials believe it's a classic case of animal hoarding.
