Bush to campaign with Talent in Missouri on Friday

By AP/KWMU

Washington, DC – President Bush will travel to Missouri Friday to campaign for Republican U.S. Senator Jim Talent. He'll speak at events in Springfield and Joplin.

It will be the first time the two appear together at a public campaign event in the state this year. Previous trips by the President to Missouri on behalf of Talent have been for private fundraisers.

Bush's trip is geared to help Talent and other Republicans motivate conservative voters just four days before the November seventh election.

Polls continue to show Talent and Democratic State Auditor Claire McCaskill running even in a race that could determine whether Democrats retake control of the Senate.

Talent has largely avoided mentioning the president in his stump speeches or TV ads.
