Police warn of fake Cards tickets

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – Police in St. Louis will be on the lookout for scalpers and counterfeiters as the World Series shifts to Busch Stadium this week.

Chief Joe Mokwa says there were forty fake Cardinal tickets sold for games during the National League Championship Series last week against New York. He says the quality of counterfeit tickets has improved greatly in recent years

"Unfortunately, the truth is I probably couldn't tell you the difference," Mokwa said. "And I think that's why people need to be very cautious because they are very excellent representations of an actual ticket."

Mokwa says security will also be stepped up during this week's games, including restricted street access around the stadium and re-routed truck and rail shipments of hazardous waste.
