Jefferson City, MO – Governor Matt Blunt's longtime communications director Spence Jackson is out, and a Republican lawmaker is in as the governor's new legislative liaison.

Jackson is moving to the Department of Economic Development to be a deputy director for communications and community development.

Brian Hauswirth will be interim Communications Director, moving over from the Corrections Department. He previously worked in radio, at KTRS-AM in St. Louis and KLIK in Jefferson City.

State Representative Todd Smith, of Sedalia, will become Blunt's legislative affairs director, replacing former lawmaker Chuck Pryor. Pryor will now be the governor's deputy chief of staff for policy and legislation.

The moves are the first changes made since Ed Martin became the governor's chief of staff, at the beginning of September.
