Kansas City, MO – Cardinals great Lou Brock is among those who will speak this Saturday at a public tribute for former Negro Leaguer Buck O'Neil, who died last week at the age of 94.
The tribute will be at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City on Saturday, the same day O'Neil's funeral and burial will be held.
The event will be hosted by Hall-of-famer Joe Morgan and feature documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. O'Neil gained national fame by voicing part of Burns' "Baseball" documentary.
Brock, for his part, was discovered by O'Neil when O'Neil was a scout with the Chicago Cubs.
O'Neil's cause of death has been listed as congestive heart failure and complications of bone marrow cancer. He would have been 95 next month.
O'Neil will lie in repose on Friday at the Negro Leagues Museum, which he helped found 16 years ago. The tribute Saturday at Municipal Auditorium starts at 5 p.m., with doors opening at 4:00.
