St. Louis, MO. – The Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority will meet today (Friday) to decide whether to postpone a vote on a deal to sell student loan assets.
The MOHELA board had been scheduled to vote next Wednesday, but three of seven board members have resigned this week.
Two of those vacancies have been named; the latest is Randy Etter, of Mexico, Mo., who was appointed Thursday. Etter is the executive director of the Advanced Technology Center, which is affiliated with Linn State Technical College and Moberly Area Community College.
The plan, being pushed by Gov. Matt Blunt, would use $350 million from MOHELA to finance projects at state colleges and universities.
The board already has delayed the vote once, earlier this month, after Attorney General Jay Nixon's office raised possible conflicts of interest issues.
