St. Louis – The famed Crown Candy Kitchen in Old North St. Louis is in line to get some new neighbors.
A group that's charged with reviving the Old North neighborhood recently announced plans for the 14th Street Mall, the row of mostly abandoned buildings across the street from Crown Candy.
The plans include opening 14th Street back up to traffic and reopening more than 20 buildings for people to live, shop and work in.
The Old North St. Louis Restoration Group is heading the effort.
It hopes to start construction next spring.
