St. Louis – Online gambling firm Bet-On-Sports wants to negotiate a settlement on civil and criminal charges of racketeering and fraud.
A Bet-On-Sports lawyer said in court Tuesday that the company wanted to reach a settlement in the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Fagan said that is possible.
Federal prosecutors in St. Louis unveiled a 22-count indictment against Bet-On-Sports in June for allowing American customers to illegally gamble and place billions of dollars in bets over the phone and online.
The company's former CEO, David Carruthers, remains under house arrest in a suburban St. Louis hotel awaiting trial.
He has pleaded not guilty to federal mail fraud, wire fraud and racketeering charges.
The company closed its U.S. operations August after a judge's order.
