Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon says that a majority of the state's student loan board could have a conflict of interest if they vote on a plan proposed by Governor Blunt.
The board of the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority delayed a decision Friday on Blunt's plan to use $350 million of its proceeds for college construction projects.
The members cited warnings from a Nixon staff member about a potential lawsuit.
Nixon said Monday that two MOHELA board members who are also on the Coordinating Board for Higher Education could have a conflict of interest because the coordinating board would distribute some of MOHELA's money to community colleges.
