St. Louis, MO – There will be a memorial today (Friday) for Lindenwood University's long-time president.
Dennis Spellman died last week of cancer at the age of 71. He became president in 1989, when Lindenwood College, as it was known then, had just a few hundred students and was in danger of closing.
It has since become a university, added nine buildings, and now has 15,000 students.
Lindenwood's chief academic officer, James Evans, is serving as acting president.
Today's memorial is at 2:00 p.m., on campus, at Hyland Performance Arena.
Memorial contributions can be made to the university in honor of the American Humanics Program. Send memorials to the development office, attn. Charlsie Floyd, 209 South Kingshighway, St. Charles, MO 63301.
