St. Louis, MO. – The St. Louis-based publication Sporting News has been sold.
American City Business Journals Incorporated purchased the company from Vulcan Sports Media Incorporated.
The sale price and details of the transaction were not released.
Vulcan has been trying to sell the 120-year-old publication and its online, book publishing and radio network components since February.
Sporting News CEO Rick Allen says it's too early to know whether the company will remain based in St. Louis.
"You've got to let the new buyers get in place, get the deal closed and then all of the questions about the futures growth and direction of the company are going to naturally be answered as they get up to speed," Allen said.
The sale will be finalized early next month.
