St. Louis – Two Lambert Airport employees are expected to face disciplinary action this week in the failure of three backup generators during the July 19th storm.
When the electricity went out in St. Louis, much of Lambert Airport was also in the dark because three of its standby generators failed.
Airport officials say maintenance workers misled them about how often the machines were tested.
City personnel director Richard Frank said punishment for the two could range from written reprimands to firing.
"This was a serious dereliction of duty for one of the employees," Frank said. "So I did make recommendations to the airport regarding discipline for these employees."
However Frank said he could not say what he recommended because the airport hasn't yet signed off on it.
Once that happens, the workers have 10 days to appeal.
