St. Louis, MO – Leaders at St. Louis University broke ground Monday on a new $80 million arena.
It will be home to the basketball Billikens and other events, like concerts and trade shows. Currently, the basketball teams play at the Savvis Center.
The new arena is eing paid for with private fund raising, borrowing, and TIF funding.
The nearly 11,000 seat arena is expected to bring nearly 500,000 people to the Midtown area every year, which university leaders say could spark growth on campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.
The arena will be located near where Compton meets Highway 40, just south of SLUs soccer stadium.
