Chicago, Ill. – Republican Judy Baar Topinka is proposing a revenue plan that includes the creation of a casino in Chicago to generate billions of dollars for Illinois.
During an appearance in Elmhurst this afternoon, the Republican candidate for governor suggested building a land-based casino in Chicago and adding gaming positions at the state's riverboat casinos.
Topinka estimates that the state would bring in an additional 625 (M) million dollars annually from adding the gaming positions and 600 (M) million dollars from the Chicago casino.
But Topinka says her plan isn't an expansion of gambling because Chicago would be taking the state's unused casino license.
