SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A team from Columbia, Mo, won Sunday at the Little League World Series, but still must win tonight (Monday) if it wants to advance to the next round. The team will play Beaverton, Ore.
All four teams in the group that includes Columbia have won a game and lost a game. That means whoever wins their next game advances, while the losers go home.
Sunday, Columbia rallied from an early hole to defeat Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 14-5 in an error-filled game. Beau Burkett scored three runs and Landon Clapp had three RBIs for the Daniel Boone Little League team from Missouri.
Columbia had a 6-5 lead in the fourth before breaking hte game open by scoring five runs that fram.
The teams combined for nine errors, seven of which came from Portsmouth.
