Jefferson City, MO – Missouri's state Treasurer Sarah Steelman says she has no plans to run against fellow Republican Governor Matt Blunt in 2008. Until now, she's refused to rule out such a run. Fueling speculation was the fact that Steelman's campaign committee lists only generically that she is running for a statewide office.
Steelman's declaration that she won't run was made to her hometown paper, The Rolla Daily News, in a front-page story published Tuesday.
For his part, the governor also said this week he's not decided whether to seek re-election.
But one man has said he'll run in two years: Democratic Attorney General Jay Nixon.
