Springfield, Ill. – Pre-registration opened Sunday for a program that aims to help more than 9,000 veterans in Illinois get health care.
"Veterans Care" is aimed at those who earn too much to qualify for federal VA benefits but who can't afford private insurance.
It officially launches September 1, but vets could start pre-registering yesterday.
Enrollees will pay a $40/month premium. Prescription drugs and doctors office visits require a co-payment ranging from $6-15.
