St. Louis, MO. – In order to vote Missourians will have to show a photo I.D. in November.

Missouri Democrats are planning to canvass door-to-door state-wide to inform voters and help those without photo identification.

Despite that Missouri Democratic Chairman and former Governor Roger Wilson says they're still hoping a lawsuit filed last week will block the new law from going into effect.

He says the law will disproportionately affect Democrats.

"We don't have the luxury of waiting a few weeks, or a month or two before the lawsuit is settled," Wilson said. "We have to prepare now."

Missouri Republican Party spokesman Paul Sloca says the law was put in place to root out voter fraud.

He says the party is confident the law will stand.
