St. Louis, MO – Ninety percent of St. Louis-area homes still without power should have the lights back on by late Tuesday.
That's the word from Ameren Corporation Vice President Richard Mark, who says the entire region should be back up and running by Wednesday.
That would be one week after the first of two massive storms knocked out power to nearly 600-thousand customers.
With the high temperature expected to climb back into the low 90s, there is renewed concern that the lack of air conditioning for homes left dark by the storm could create health problems.
Some residents are expressing frustration with Ameren, but the company says it is working as fast as it can. Several thousand utility workers from other companies have been brought in to help get the electricity back on.
