St. Louis, MO – The president of Saint Louis University, Lawrence Biondi is on a ship heading out of Lebanon.
SLU spokesman Clayton Berry says Biondi is heading for Cyprus, but that he has little other information.
Biondi and Lebanese rector Andre Mhanna, of St. Raymond's Maronite Catholic Parish in St. Louis, arrived in Beirut on July 11 for a two-week trip. The bombing began the next day.
The men were not part of the first wave of evacuations this week, and went to the mountains because things were getting too dangerous in Beirut.
Mhanna says roughly ten families from St. Raymond are also waiting to leave. For his part, Mhanna plans to stay until everyone else is evacuated.
