Riverview Gardens school board member call for colleague's ouster

By Kevin Lavery, KWMU

St. Louis – Some members of the Riverview Gardens school board are calling for the ouster of fellow board member Michael Person.

Wednesday, three board members presented a letter to St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCollough, explaining that Person lives outside the district and has cast illegal votes.

Person denies that charge. Board member Tommie Pierson said his group is giving McCollough copies of minutes of key board meetings to support their claim.

"We wholeheartedly support his investigation," Pierson said. "We're providing what information we have on Michael Person, how he's voted, and he shouldn't be there."

McCollough is investigating claims of financial mismanagement.

One case involves an alleged $41,000 contract paid to the girlfriend of superintendent Henry Williams.

Williams did not return calls seeking comment.
