Edwardsville, IL – AT&T says it's working around the clock to restore telephone and Internet services to more than 10,000 residents and businesses in the Metro East.
Edwardsville Fire Chief Brian Wilson says the crews were working for a private contractor.
He says the fiber optics cable were fixed Wednesday, but it's taking longer to repair the damaged copper cables because each copper head contains thousands of lines that must be reconnected.
An AT & T spokeswoman says the repair work should be completed by this morning (Thursday).
