St. Louis, MO – The I-64 Connection Committee is made up of regional civic leaders who'll serve as the department's link to citizens and businesses.
MODOT district engineer Ed Hassinger says the 16-member panel will help identify concerns ranging from traffic flow to job site access.
"Pre-planning for that kind of stuff is very important," Hassinger said. "I think they'll be able to help us a lot with that kind of stuff as we go forward. Getting ready for this project is going to be something that everybody's going to have to start thinking about."
MODOT will select a contractor by the end of this year.
Construction on the $535 million project will begin in early 2007, with completion slated for October 2010.
