Some lanes to close on the PSB

By AP / KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Drivers heading into and out of downtown St. Louis should prepare for a slowdown that will last all summer.

During peak traffic hours, crews will shut down the right lane of the Poplar Street Bridge in both directions for resurfacing.

Crews will also overlay the west end ramps leading into downtown.

The Missouri Department of Transportation's Mike Fitzpatrick is asking drivers to be patient.

"People have to understand that summer is peak construction season and we're trying to get the roads in good shape for you," Fitzpatrick said. "It's just a matter that you're going to have to allow a little extra time."

Drivers are advised to use the Martin Luther King, Eads, Chain of Rocks or Jefferson Barracks bridges as alternative routes.

The lane closures on the PSB are expected to go on until Labor Day.
