Gov. Blunt touts anti-sexual predator law

By AP / KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The bill would require those convicted of forcible rape or forcible sodomy to generally serve at least 30 years in prison if the victim was younger than 12.

So-called "persistent" sex offenders would have to serve a life sentence without parole.

Gov. Blunt is highlighting the legislation with a statewide tour.

He's planning stops today in Springfield, Platte City, Jefferson City and St. Louis. He travels to Joplin and Cape Girardeau Tuesday.
