Springfield, MO – Missouri Republican Jim Talent officially started his re-election campaign today.
In Springfield, Talent touted his Senate record and criticized his challenger, Democratic State Auditor Claire McCaskill.
"I think her opposition to the energy bill, the renewable fuels standard and the methamphetamine bill show that she would be part of the problem if she went to Washington," Talent said.
It did not take long for McCaskill to respond.
"I was only against the energy bill because it contained over $10 billion going to oil companies in a year they were making record profits," McCaskill said.
Talent's speech Friday is part of a series that he will deliver across the state this weekend.
He is scheduled to stop in St. Louis Saturday.
