High school to raise money for Reeves

By AP/KWMU

Columbia, IL – Columbia High School will host a five-kilometer run/walk June 23rd on behalf of 17-year-old Ashley Reeves of Millstadt.

Last month, Reeves was found beaten and left for dead in a Belleville park. Former Freeburg High School teacher Samson Shelton of Smithton is accused of kidnapping Reeves and trying to kill her.

The benefit will help Reeves' Family cover expenses from the attack.

Authorities say Reeves was found 30 hours after she was beaten and left in the park. She's now being treated at a pediatric rehabilitation center in Missouri.

For more information about the benefit, visit Columbia High School.
