City teacher accused of going to school drunk, fondling student

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A St. Louis public middle school teacher is accused of fondling a female student at school. Administrators at Pruitt Military Academy say they think Sterling Johnson, 54, was drunk when he came to work Monday morning.

Johnson reportedly asked a student to get alcohol from his car and he later touched a 13-year-old female student inappropriately. He left the campus and was arrested when he returned to the school.

Johnson has been suspended and officials expect he'll be fired.

Superintendent Creg Williams says he would not tolerate the behavior. Johnson has more than 20 years teaching experience and Williams says Johnson has had problems with drinking in the past and alcohol was found in his classroom on Monday.
