Jefferson City, MO – Driving too fast in Missouri could result in your helping to buy new school buses.
Lawmakers Thursday debated, but didn't vote on, legislation that would impose a special $15 fine on speeding and other tickets. That money would be used to pay for buses that are equipped with seat belts.
The measure being considered would also require lap and shoulder belts on all new school buses bought starting next year.
A special task force last year urged Missouri schools to consider buying buses with safety belts. But Governor Blunt went further, saying the belts should be mandatory.
