Report: Missouri doesn't get fair share of federal meth money

By AP/KWMU

Washington, DC – The Justice Department says Missouri probably doesn't get its fair share of federal money fight methamphetamine, and members of Congress are to blame.

The department looked at how several years of anti-meth grants have been spent. It found 84% of the money (nearly $180 million) was directed by members of Congress to their own states and districts.

The report also cited Missouri, noting the state had the second most meth lab seizures in the country from 1998-2004, but was 10th in the amount of federal money received in that time, getting just $3.7 million.
