St. Louis lands most important convention ever, boosters say

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis – The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission says it has booked one of its most important gatherings ever.

It's not for another five years. But the city will host a convention of people who plan conventions.

The American Society of Association Executives will meet here in 2011. And CVC president Carol Moody said it could have a long-term impact.

"The reason this group is so important to St. Louis is that these are the association executives who make decisions as to where their conventions are going to be held in the future," Moody said.

Moody said the ASAE includes leaders of nonprofits and trade groups.

About 7,500 people are expected to attend.
