Virgil City, MO – A tenth Missourian has died as a result of last weekend's storms.
Nine people were known to have died in Missouri in the immediate aftermath of last weekend's storms that moved through the Midwest. But authories now say Albert Stewart, 77, has since died of his injuries.
Stewart was was from the southwest Missouri town of Virgil City.
Governor Matt Blunt declared Sunday a state day of prayer for the storm victims.
Meanwhile, in Illinois, the mayor of Springfield estimates private property damage from the two tornadoes that hit that city last weekend will exceed $100 million.
There were still more than 1,000 people without power in Springfield as of this weekend.
