St. Louis – Sixty years ago, Sir Winston Churchill gave one of the most famous speeches of the 20th Century. He titled it "The Sinews of Peace," but it warned of an "iron curtain" of Soviet influence descending across Europe.

Churchill delivered the address at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. This weekend (March 4) the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library in Fulton is celebrating the event.

KWMU's Maria Hickey spoke with Rob Havers, the executive director of the memorial and library, about what was then considered a controversial speech.
