Caseyville, Ill. – Highway officials in Illinois are trying to figure out who and why someone hanged a dead raccoon at a construction site in the Metro-East.
Workers on a stretch of I-64 in Caseyville found the animal hanging from an overhead informational sign on Thursday.
The probe apparently will look at whether the incident is related to a dispute that one minority contractor at the job site is having with a couple of union locals.
Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman Matt Vanover says I-DOT managers are investigating.
