St. Louis, MO – There were two close races for state representative in the St. Louis region Tuesday.
In the 93rd district in southwest St. Louis County, Republican Dwight Scharnhorst edged Democrat Gen Frank to replace Republican Jodi Stefanick, who resigned.
A state representative seat in the 105th district, which includes Jefferson, Franklin and St. Louis Counties, stayed Democrat. Michael Frame beat Republican Ed Groom and Libertarian Richard Ford.
Both races were decided by fewer than 200 votes, and both men will have to run again this fall.
But Democrats did gain one seat in the Missouri House Tuesday, thanks to a special election in southwest Missouri in a district that had been Republican. The GOP, though, still controls the chamber.
OTHER ELECTIONS
A handful of tax questions were also on ballots Tuesday. Tax questions in Edmunson and Woodson Terrace passed, but a school tax question in the Mehlville district failed.
